Congrats Greg! Hope things go well for you (if you're reading this)

That quiz was brutal...makes me want to study up on One Piece trivia...

And even though i feel like you or somebody else probably already looked this up

Kuro can finish the 100 meter in 4 seconds

The lock combination was Nami, then Robin so it's 7326

Sanji can break 21 bats

Sorry don't know the name of Hancock's ship

I found the other info on your website though xD. I'm still excited for updates or a complete version of it someday years after one piece ends.

I can't believe you mentioned the "Charlie Brown" news but you skipped over the Spanish and German stuff. Then again, I'm happy that you at least mentioned the "Charlie Brown news.

@Jissocool VIZ slower but mangastream is lower quality. And mangastream is just a ragtag team, unless they were really well of and good business men they'd never be able to do that.

I mean if Viz uploaded as fast and as high of a quality as Manga Stream then I would buy it. I wish Manga Stream bought the copyright instead. :(

@ 464 Well in that case I agree, but from your previous you seemed to be saying it's a big deal. But if it's not that detrimental to the enjoyment, than Zolo isn't a big deal. I'd like it to be Zoro, but I accept that it's not. As far as changing it back to Zoro, the VIZ editor Alexis Kirsch seemed to explain it a bit in this interview:

http://www.onepieceatatimeblog.com/2011/05/interview-piece-alexis-kirsch-part-1.html

"We could change Zolo back to Zoro but it would just cause too much confusion at this point so we're leaving it as is. Perhaps if we ever did a super special edition, we could change it back."

So it sounds like he's saying after changing Zoro to Zolo after a few volumes, and then changing it back to Zoro after over 30 volumes, it would be awkward. I know pretty much everyone buying from VIZ wouldn't really have a problem with changing it back but I see where's VIZ is coming from, it's about consistency. At least he doesn't discount the possibility, and it would be nice for a super special edition reprint.

@Laurens- Not translation title names is not a proper reason amd rule of translation. Where did that come from anyway? There's nothing inherently Japanese and special about Shcibukai, it just means Seven Warlords. Why would it be better not to translate them? To teach a bit about Japanese to viewers? It doesn't make sense, the point of translation is to present an experience in a foreign language that's as close to the original as possible. Japanese readers weren't reading titles as foreign words were they? Unless the author intended to.

As far as nakama goes, that's just a lame reason for fansubbers not to translate it. As far as I know it has no special meaning to the anime, it's not objective at all. A word itself, the way nakama sounds, has nothing exuding about it that means anything more than friend or comrade. It's made up.

VIZ is not forced to do anything to be more in-line with the reputation of American cartoons. Well, actually, they were a bit more censor-happy in the mid-2000s because of the beauracracy higher-up at VIZ. It was probably to avoid potential complaints from parents as a result of Shonen Jump titles having a reputation on kids TV. But in recent times VIZ has become more lax in their policies, if you read recent "One Piece" volumes there isn't really any dumbing down and you'll see more damns and hells.

And yeah, I agree Shueisha should've looked at the global market earlier on. But as mentioned in the podcast, Japanese companies can be quite conservative with new ventures.

Well I love manga. I love One Piece most of all! I want to support the author! But I also want the companys who distribute the manga to have full and accurate translations. Meaning NO ZOLO! I also wish to get the manga when it is released. I also want to support the workers who try so hard to do the best they can. But I also want to criticise the ones who arn't trying hard enough. I need to save money for collage, a car, and to get a drivers licens. I have no job. I want to buy WSJA but I can't afford it. I want people to get these manga in other countrys. I want more than 3 manga in WSJA. I want people on the internet to stop complaining about the losing scanlations they don't own. I want my weekly manga fix. I want to continue to read manga. I want people to stop pinning the blame on others, INCLUDING VIZ!

The above are the spoken wishes of not only myself but the people who truly love manga. But wishing and wanting will not do anything. Saying I WANT is not enough. What WILL do is as soon as I get a job I will percious WSJA as well as read scanlations. While I know it's hard to believe they are trying their best. and as you can see demand and pressure is high. Scanlations are not perfect ether. However they do translate better. But they aren't leagal. Bottom line I love pirates...but I don't want to be one. If I love something I pay the genius who created it. I read scanlations to check the water of manga. I do the same with streamed anime. If I like it I buy it if I don't I save my money for more important things...Like a library book. But reading without planing to buy is just pointless. Sooner or later the author won't be able to afford to continue his series. because it would be suposedly unpopular. AND WHO'S FULT WOULD THAT BE! if not for yourselves then for the one who works so hard for your entertainment. BUY THE DAMN SERIES!
