On this episode of the One Piece Podcast we have so much to go into that it cannot fit in one hour, two hours, three hours, or even four hours. On this episode we have some very special announcements, then go into our Jump Festa…festivities with Greg and Ed. We then go into some News with Firecrouch and some Piece Together with Firecrouch and Greg. Then the podcast begins again with an Anime Recap with Funkatron, and a Manga Recap with Ichnob. Then Ichnob and Steve join us for a Top 5 of 2011 and a round-off. It’s just that simple.
This is our last episode of the year, and so we’ll wish all of you guys out there a happy holidays and a happy new year! In January we will be celebrating “Fight Scanlation Month” by not having a Manga Recap in January. With the release of Weekly Shonen Jump Alpha on January 30th we’ll return in full glory with new segments, and a Manga Recap based off of Stephen’s translations in Alpha. We urge you all to take the month off of One Piece with us. We know it’s difficult, but it would help show solidarity leading up to the first issue of Alpha. (Hashtag #FightScanlationMonth).
Here’s a line-up of what we have for you on the podcast today:

first of all, asking people to support the no scanlations crap is nonsense , i live in portugal and the ONLY way i can read one piece is by scanlations , i don’t get deliveries here from amazon without paying 20€ extra for a book that’s 4 € witch is stupid.
So before you ask ppl to join you in a fight against scanlations , gtfo you’r high horse and imagine what it would be like if you had NO OTHER FUCKING WAY of reading it.
@ Kenshyn91 First off rude comments will not make your stance sound any more reasonable. Second, you’ll still get manga recaps, just two weeks later. You don’t need it right away to enjoy the podcast, and you’ll get your manga regardless. Third, we completely understand you don’t have many legal options or none at all. We understand you just want to enjoy your manga and I personally don’t hold it against you if you have to go the illegal route to do that. But if you can take an affordable legal route, you should. It’s the right thing to do as a fan that wants to support the creators. Tell VIZ and Shueisha you want this Alpha thing, it won’t hurt. And by supporting this release it’ll be more likely your region will get it as well. That’s what I and the rest of podcast will be doing, supporting this release with that possibility in mind. We care about all the fans, they deserve it. That’s what the fighting scanlations thing stands for; get your manga as a fan, but know supporting the official release is the best option.
Firecrouch makes great points and I’d just echo by saying, I think it’s abundantly clear that we are suggesting you avoid scanlations IF other legal routes are available.
Remember folks, reading scanlations is a relatively new phenomenon. Not ten years ago anime fans had to *gasp* ‘wait patiently’ for official releases. There’s nothing to complain about these days no matter how you look at
These new Big Mom pirates are designed as if they belong in a Tim Burton movie!
The three-eyed girl reminds me of Jack Skellington’s girlfriend in “The Nightmare Before Christmas”.
Also, the Boogieman reveal scene (in the same movie) seems like a strong influence in this week’s chapter: a horrifying monster, barely visible in the shadows.
Besides, I’m pretty sure Oda already said that he’s a big fan of Burton’s work.
Well I am from india , can I subscribe for shonen jump alpha.
