A wonderful second part guys ^_^. Manga recap was freaking awesome! The chapter totally ruled now we just have to wait to see what happens next. I don’t mind the recap it does make it easier to listen too when on the road especially when they’re okay episodes, but I personally would like you guys to keep doing the commentary for the really good episodes. I can’t wait to hear who this awesome guest is, until the next episode boys ^_^.
Dammit, alot of things happened during my vacation week! Ahh well.
So yeah, chapter 634… I’ll try to keep it brief this time. Colorspread is nice, it took me a while to figure out Brook was next to Shirahoshi’s breasts. I don’t think I’ve found ALL the characters, though.
Oh… That’s interesting… In Japanese, it’s not “nakama”, it’s just the casual word for “friend”. Ah well.
I love what Luffy says here, how he doesn’t want to be the hero. That’s like the opposite of most child/idiot heroes. Luffy just wants to be a pirate, and pirates don’t have to do the right thing. We know Luffy is a nice guy, but he can be quite selfish and really crafty sometimes. He can use the pirate excuse for those times. I think that makes him more appealing, to say he doesn’t want to be a hero.
Cute Chopper! X3
Perhaps Jimbei can be a strategist… Hey yeah, now that I think about, he HAS made quite a few strategies… I think… I’ll have to look back and see. Plus, the fact that he’s so concerned about a name for the strategy… I smell a future running gag!
I like how deeply you look into things… Like the scar. You think it has some significance. Who knows, it might just be a scar from one of his many battles… But then again, it could very well be something important. You never can tell with Oda.
I REALLY like Zeo, like you guys said, it’d kind of in denial of everything bad or embarrassing that happens to him. Like when he got the shit stomped out of him by his own minions.
Shirahoshi is really cute, especially when Jimbei tells her about how much she’s kept that secret in her. I also like the seed analogy. Hopefully, she’ll be the one to bring peace and harmony to Fishman Island (or what’s left of it).
I also recalled when Jimbei fell for that trap WAY too easily. I was really pissed off, but then someone reminded me of Smoker in Alabasta. …I guess I didn’t care much for Smoker as much as I do Jimbei.
Actually, when you explain it like that… Hody’s plain doesn’t make much sense… I didn’t realize that before but now, yeah, you really need to think this plan through, Mr. Jones.
I LOVED this part. Hody Jones said the one thing you do NOT say in front of Luffy! What Luffy does following this is one of my favorite parts of the whole arc, ESPECIALLY Hody’s reaction! I was a little surprised that Zoro and Sanji know about haki and recognized Luffy using it, though… Also, Franky’s old hair, FTW!
Yeah, Enies Lobby would have been much less exciting if he has just used haki for all those soldiers… But then again, you don’t want to waste time with weaklings, and since he took out half (how DID that guy know the exact amount?) of those guys, that must mean the others are more worthy of a fight.
OMG, when I saw Jimbei smiling there, I was totally FREAKED OUT, because I don’t recall ever seeing Jimbei smiling, or at least smiling like that!
I asked this question last time, remember? Did Luffy activate Gear 3 without biting his thumb? I guess he did bite his thumb, we just didn’t see it.
When did Oda said “A former boss would join the crew”? Just before the Impel Down arc? “Bossu”? A Boss character? A lead villain? …Could it be Coribou?!?!?!? We actually haven’t seen him in a while… I still want see Jimbei join the crew.
Okay, something I just want to mention quickly about episode 508 is that there was actually as shot where we got a close-up of Nami’s butt with her rubbing it, probably because she landed on it and it hurt. …Was it REALLY necessary?
The scene where the wizard-people’s eyes popped out of their heads was funny, too.
I do feel sorry for poor Haredas, though.
LOL, the return of Mr. Frank! …Not quite…
It’s nice to know that he at least tried not to fight back to prevent the lab from being damaged… But that still doesn’t excuse the sheer stupidity of mistaking the self-destruct button for a “pirate mark”. Not cool, Franky, not cool. I AT LEAST hope he saved those blueprints… No, he just picked up one then left everything as it was. I really hate Franky for this. No amount of comedy or sympathy will make me forgive Franky for this.
I noticed that the subtitles refer to the “humandrills” as baboons. Are mandrills baboons? It’s also weird that they’re so strong that even Mihawk regards their strength. Speaking of which, I also love the interactions with Perona and Mihawk, Zoro and Mihawk, and even Zoro and Perona. I bet they grow closer then ever in 2 years time.
Mihawk’s new VA, BTW… I can hear a difference, but he’s always so serious that it doesn’t bother me as much.
I see they added a bit of filler to Brook’s story, those people are still so lazy that they assume the music sheets are talismans that will curse the Longarm tribe to death. I just hope Brook memorized that music… I also couldn’t help but notice how sweaty and out of breath the people are, just by placing those sheets all over the place… They must be REALLY lazy!
Wait… That music… It’s the same music Count Butler used in the third One Piece movie! It’s the PERFECT song to use here, to turn these lazy bums into charging warriors!
It was a nice sentiment to hear they were going to change their ways, but they really didn’t. Oh well, too bad for them.
I also thought it was funny how Brook went full-on devil mode, only to have it backfire on him. Poor guy.
Oh crap, I totally did not think about Zoro and Sanji witnessing Luffy using haki to tame the kraken! Good explanation!
So… was this post slightly shorter than usual? Sorry if it wasn’t…
