Great Podcast guys the chapter was indeed BADASS XD!!! Seriously enjoying the flashback. I really do hope that the One Piece dvd’s will be continue to be released by Funi it would be so sad if it ended where it’s at now. I hope Anime Boston goes well until next week.
Thanks for answering my Piece Together question!
great recap, and I’m a law student too.
Yeah, I love Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo, I want it to continue in America!
Manga recap…
The Usopp Pirates look so WEIRD older… I always imagined them as being little kids forever…
When I first saw the robber, I thought he was a human pirate or something, trying to steal a mermaid and some money, but apparently, it’s just a fishman.
I didn’t notice that she dodged the bullets with her eyes closed… Mantraki?
Wow… Her armor-piercing slap actually hurts her hand… Unlike most armor piercing slaps… I guess this is to prove that she’s not physically strong, she’s just very determined, as Zach said.
Calling the ministers Keanan and Kel?! …Sure, why not.
Anyway, something I notice a LOT about Otohime is that she always thinks about the children and how they’re raised. And when you think about it, that’s one of the crucial points of this arc. Hody and his friends were kids, cheering on Arlong’s exploits. And now look at them!
We also see that, since Otohime actively comes to stop people from doing bad things, the people are more connected to her and love her for that.
Otohime’s speeches might sound a little corny now, but they have SO MUCH significance in this story…
It’s so weird to see that guy’s face after he had a change of heart… Also, isn’t he getting arrested? Yeah, so much for turning his life around…
Slapping that kid just because his nose was running, though, was crossing the line, I think.
Jimbei is so badass, even 16 years ago…
And Otohime’s children are so cute! Not just Shirahoshi but also Fukaboshi, Ryuboshi, and Mamboshi! XD
WHOA! Kind Neptune and Whitebeard were friends?! I wonder how he reacted to Whitebeard’s death…
Oh crap, I completely forgot about this! If what King Neptune says it true, then perhaps that ark was originally meant for Fishmen to migrate to the above world, but that didn’t work out… Now it’s sitting there, waiting for “that day” to come.
I like the idea that everyone on Fishman Island travels up to the New World (probably with the Straw Hat Pirates), and they start a new age where Fishmen/Merman and humans can co-exist… After all, most of the slave trading takes place on one side of the Red Line, who’s to say thing’s aren’t better on the other side? …Well, it IS the New World…
And so we see that Arlong always was a cruel bastard… But now we find out his actual age, 16 years ago! …25… That means currently, he’d be 41! MATH!!!!!1!!!
Yeah, apparently, Arlong had his own crew before joining the Sunny Pirates. Then reformed that crew after leaving the Sunny Pirates.
What’s weird, though, is that Arlong seems to view he and Jimbei as old friends, but Jimbei doesn’t agree… I feel safe in assuming that they were never friends, and Arlong just has a bit of admiration for Jimbei… At this point in time…
Either way, Jimbei is a badass. The way he talks and acts here, it’s all so smooth, cool, and confident…
But it IS weird how they both immediately change their tune, and Jimbei actually SMILES his little Muppet smile when they both see Fisher Tiger… And we also see Arlong is pretty short in comparison to Fisher Tiger and Jimbei… BTW, I LOVE that “Frog? No. HIPPO” shirt! XD
I also completely forgot this… The Fishman District started out as a place for orphaned children… So basically, they’re slums, urchin streets, so to speak. Where the young, birhgt-eyed Fishmen are brought up with bad ideals and the wrong impression of the world.. Jimbei and Hachi are probably one of the few decent Fishmen to come out of there, judging from the Fishmen we’ve seen…
Lots of “Ti”-related puns…
Fisher Tiger’s the best thing that happened to the Fishman District, just as I thought. Not to mention, Jimbei was his second-in-command. He’s that awesome!
And Macro. What a freaking bastard he is, kidnapping his own kind and selling them off! How could ANYONE forgive him after that!
It’s so weird to see Arlong commenting on how violent Jimbei is… And yet we never seen anything like this again… From this point on, it’s pretty much the reverse. But still, I can understand what’s going through Jimbei’s mind as he beats up those Marines.
OMG, Jimbei’s coat DOES look like a Devil Fruit!
Macro being part of the Sunny Pirates… Despite being comic relief, he’s really a cruel guy. He HAS to be, seeing as he sells his own Fishmen off to slavery!
Anime recap…
Not much to comment on at first… But that’s probably a good thing. So apparently, Sabo’s VA also does Naruto. I haven’t heard Sabo’s voice yet so I wouldn’t know.
Luffy’s run-in with those homeless guys scrapping around for valuable stuff seemed pretty pointless… But whatever, it’s setting up how desolate the place is.
Okay, now that I heard Sabo’s voice, even though I don’t watch Naruto in Japanese, I watched the beginning of Naruto in English, and Sabo’s voice does sound a lot like Naruto’s English voice… And if I were to watch Naruto, that’s pretty much what I’d expect his voice to sound like.
I’m still curious, though… How did Ace and Sabo become friends? They said they’ve been saving up money for five years, so that means they were 5-years-old when the met? That’s insane!
Poor Luffy… The way Sabo and Ace gang up on his is comedic, but at the same time, it’s kind of sad… ESPECIALLY when they recommend killing him. And what’s with this “I don’t know how to kill someone”. It’s not something “learnable”, just beat him up, cut him to shears. It’s so simple a toddler could do it!
And there he is, the man who’s name I’ve been saying over and over again for the past several days… Porchemy Penisface. It’s just such a hilarious name to say! XD
Apparently, Porchemy Penisface has quite a reputation… Not that matters, since he won’t be around for long… And how DID Luffy get caught by him so easily?!
Ace and Sabo assume that he’s such a bigmouth, revealing that he knows Ace, but Luffy realizes that money’s important to them, and he doesn’t talk… Unfotunately, Luffy is THE worst liar in history. He’s got so many tells that even the most oblivious person could tell he’s lying.
Still, Porchemy Penisface’s eye are SO FUCKING FUNNY, that it doesn’t matter!
I like how we get part of two chapters mixed into one here. And it’s ALL about Porchemy Penisface!
I like how the guys freak out befor Luffy gives them a chance to explain that he has a Devil Fruit. Remember, in the East Blue especially, Devil Fruits are rare, so much so that they’re almost considered a myth to those who don’t travel the sea much. Prochemy Penisface knows better, though.
What Porchemy Penisface does to Luffy may seem brutal, but then again, once you meet his Captain, Bluejam, you’ll realize why he goes to such lengths.
What’s with the dolls that guy from the Gray Terminal has? Either way, they’re freaking wusses, running away from a bunch of trash urchins…
And here we see Sabo, and he realizes that Luffy still hasn’t blabbed yet… He’s actually made of sterner stuff, despite being an idiot and crying a lot, as they say.
Actually, it’s funny, Luffy calls Shirahoshi a crybaby, when he wasn’t much different when he was younger.
That vein bulging on Porchemy’s penis-face was quite disturbing… And it’s weird how there was a full 5 seconds or perhaps more of Porchemy not doing anything to Luffy… Just a still frame… Kind of a cheap way to get out of animation and filling up a half-hour.
I think the reason why Prochemy Penisface lost to Ace and Sabo is because he was so worn out from beating up Luffy all day long… Too bad for him.
Piece together…
lol at Brook having a Ford Model T and Chopper having an Ice Cream Truck! XD Really, though, I know nothing about cars.
