Nice episode!
This was an extremelly fun podcast to listen to, it was great hearing how popular One Piece is in Japan and also hearing abput Greg’s trip on board the going Merry really cool. ^_^ Until next Monday guys!
OH MY GOD.
I love you Greg, but please, stop talking. You are talking for like 15 about absolutely
nothing. I wanna hear about One Piece, not japanese tv shows. :/
Damn, I wish EVERYONE can hear this so they know just how good One Piece is… Even compared to Dragon Ball.
I’m glad Japan also didn’t think fondly of Skypiea, it’s my least favorite arc, too.
Oh my GOD, people were really making a fuss over that? From what Greg’s saying, it sound like Oda’s saying that the Koreans should be supporting their own team. It doesn’t and shouldn’t automatically mean that Oda supports them as well.
Anime recap…
Correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t Luffy want to be a pirate BEFORE he met Shanks? It was only until he met Shanks that he wanted to be Pirate KING instead of just a regular pirate. Whatever, Garp likes to blame Shanks anyway ’cause he’s Garp.
Shanks is so damn badass, though…
And Blackbeard is so DEMENTED!!!
I wonder… Was Law purposely waiting for someone to deliver Luffy’s straw hat? Or was it something else…
Bepo’s pretty funny… But the fact that the VA who does him also does Satori and Wanze DOES kind of cement him as an annoying character…
One of those Marines… The one with the metal lower jaw… Who IS that guy?!
I have to wonder, though, how the fight with Kaido went… Actually, I just really want to know more about Kaido. Out of all the Four Emperors, he seems to be the most pirate-y and antagonistic of the bunch. Mostly everything he does, or at least from what we’ve hear so far, involving something bad. Killing Gecko Moria’s entire crew, trying to attack Whitebeard while he’s trying to save Ace… He’s DEFINITELY someone I want to meet later on!
Ah yes, after all this time, some of us might have forgotten that Buggy hates Shanks. However, Shanks still has fond memories of Buggy, so he doesn’t treat him badly. And since he’s so much stronger than Buggy, Buggy can’t really do much against him other than yell.
Buggy’s so easy to trick… The anime drags it out a bit by having Buggy refuse at first, then deny that Shanks actually HAS a treasure map… It makes him out to be even more of an idiot than in the manga. “Too good to be true”? You don’t even know what the treasure is, Buggy. He just say “it’s a really great treasure map”. Buggy has got to be one of the most traditionally motivated pirates in this series. He’s all about the treasure. But what’s he going to do with it? ESPECIALLY now that he’s made a big name for himself…
And there’s Lucky Rou! Remember when he used to be a completely round guy instead of just a really fat guy? Yeah… How Oda’s art-style has changed… I also like how we’re reminded that Shanks still has a promise to keep… To meet Luffy only when he’s become a “great pirate”. Luffy’s not quite there yet, though, and in this state, really, he probably wouldn’t care…
Oh look, a flashback… Using old footage from episode 4. Eh… It’s weird how instead of just Shanks giving his straw hat to Luffy, they also show Luffy yelling at Shanks after being humiliated and Shanks rescuing Luffy, in ADDITION to that scene.
Bepo’s eyes… You mean just closing them?! How’s THAT funny? It’s kind of cute, though…
Buggy’s torso is floating right above his legs… So why bother have them separated? I know he needs to be within close rang of his feet, but seriously…
When I see that close up of Law’s hands… It reminds me of this:
http://images.wikia.com/flapjack/images/4/4c/DoctorBarbersHandsClose.jpg
Yeah… The fact that he says it will be a fun operation is also reminiscent of Dr. Barber… How he likes “surrrrrgery” a bit too much.
lol, Bepo’s eyes THERE was pretty darn funny! Also, Bepo needs to learn NOT to interrupt a doctor while he’s performing an operation.
Jean Bart is pretty badass, I’m glad he joined Law’s crew! Thankfully, the escaped that one… By a hair. Now they need to escape Kizaru’s attack!
You know, for a bear who constantly has to remind Jean Bart that he’s “higher ranking” than him, Bepo doesn’t work well under pressure.
lol, Boa Hancock wastes no time going after that submarine, and manipulating all the Marines go go along with what she says… She also tries to cover it up by saying she’s actively trying to capture and kill Luffy, even though her actions on the battlefield say different for all the “competent” people who witnessed it.
I also agree with you guys, how she really can get away with everything BECAUSE she’s beautiful. Makes me feel like the World Government should strip her of her title and drag her back into reality. I don’t care if she was a former slave, just make her STFU!
I thought it was weird how Buggy spuratically imitated Shanks there in the midst of his anger… Still, Shanks should know better… But then again, he doesn’t seem to realize that Buggy “hates him for life” because of one lost treasure, which probably isn’t even worth that much. Then again, he ALSO permanently lost the ability to swim, but then again, he’s the only Devil Fruit user who complains about that disadvantage. Besides, Shanks SAVED his life immediately after he ate the Devil Fruit. Doesn’t THAT count for anything? Eh, Buggy, go figure.
They even used that brief flashback during the Buggy arc… Whoa… Young Shanks looked a LOT different back then.
Wow, little cherub angles… That’s new… And as if they weren’t obsessed over Buggy before, now they’re convinced, Buggy’s the best there is… Just because he shouted at Shanks. I guess it’s different for them, they see Shanks as the same level as Whitebeard, while Buggy’s known Shanks since they were kids, and hates Shanks over a petty loss. I guess it’s a matter of perspective.
Marco looks pretty angry… I don’t see why. Were Shanks and Whitebeard really such bitter enemies? Or is he just upset that they have to resort to having Shanks help them out.
Mihawk is badass as always. Just walking away because dealing with Shanks wasn’t part of the deal.
Nice 3D effect with those barriers…
Just were is Shanks walking to? Is he trying to get closer to Sengoku, Garp, and Blackbeard?
I want to know more about Shanks’s crew… ESPECIALLY that guy with the monkey!
“You’re more handsome then ever, Red-Hair”… …Is he FLIRTING with Shanks?! Even if he’s just making fun of him for the scars Blackbeard gave Shanks, it’s still REALLY creepy!
I love how Yassop and Van Auger both draw their guns… The best snipers of each crew… Pretty sweet!
It’s interesting, also, how they match each Blackbeard Pirate for a Red-Hair Pirate… Lucky Rou gets Vasco Shot, monkey man gets Catarina Devon, and of course, Benn Beckmen gets Shiryu/Shiliew… Seriously, even though he just recently joined, he might as well be consider the first mate of the crew.
Blackbeard backs off… He’s not ready to kill Shanks yet… I wonder… Just when will that time be?
I see Fossa got his cigar back… And everyone decides to cry again… Because now they’re safe to do so, I suppose. Doflamingo’s all alone… Tht bastard’s always smirking at something… I could have sworn Coby was foaming at the mouth in the manga… And Gecko Moria’s standing on a pile of corpses… He looks happy… Poor fool doesn’t realize what he’s in for… Whoa, the real Kuma never left his spot! Did you guys notice that?!
Damn, and after all that, the Transponder Snail is STILL recording all of this?!
And once again, we see Doberman acting like a douchebag… Seriously, he didn’t act this way during the Enies Lobby arc, but hey, maybe now he decided to show his true colors… Seriously, though, they’re all a bunch of massive DICKS to parade Whitebeard and Ace’s dead bodies just to stroke their own inflated egos. They won, that’s all that matters. Pirate or no, they’re still humans who deserve proper respect and dignity after death. Sengoku understands that… At least I HOPE he does, and wasn’t just agreeing to avoid fighting Shanks and his crew…
Garp looks like he’s about to cry… Still, knowing what he’s going to do after everything’s settled down…
ANYWAY! I thought that was a decent episode. Enjoyed it a fair amount.
