I probably shouldn’t have watched the vidcast at 130am; I was laughing so hard at the Conversations with Akainu that my aunt came in wondering if I was on something.
One not so kind note: all the rape talk with Caribou was getting rather disturbing, you might want to tone that down.

Manga recap…
Dadan’s gang of mountain bandits are a funny group. I’m glad they’ve joined the roster of people we’ll keep track of, in addition to all the other people linked to the Straw Hat Pirates. News and scrapbooks about Luffy and Ace, how sweet.
Yeah, it’s so strange that they think nothing’s wrong with Megalo, despite the fact that he’s bulging to near-burst! Although we DO see why they don’t think that’s the case… Which is IMMENSELY ironic, when you think about it.
Sanji acted like Zoro, up to actually saying “what’s done is done”, just like Zoro. Also, Chopper’s so cute. :3
Poor Hachi. He’s got no luck, as described in the podcast…
So Vander Decken planned to demonstrate his power on an unsuspecting human, but lucky for that guy, Hachi shows up to raise an objection against Hody’s plans…
It’s interesting that we learn that Vander Decken and Hyozo had the chance to join Arlong’s crew, but Arlong, being the greedy bastard he is, was too cheap to hire Hyozo, and Vander Decken could only join if he served Arlong, and he doesn’t serve under anyone. It’s insteresting, though, how much stronger would the Arlong Pirates be if they were with Arlong…
Hoy Jones of all people called Arlong barbaric and lacked sophistication… After reading about 25+ chapters ahead, I find it a bit hypocritical that Hody, of all people, would think he’s more tame and sophisticated compared to Arlong. I like how you guys also say that Hody Jones is “smarter” than Arlong. HA!
The generational conflict is also important, because it’s an important factor in just how naive Hody really is when it comes to the world outside of Fishman Island.
That was brutal, what Vander Decken did to Hachi… Also, never washing your hand, gross but funny, and it makes sense for him…
Honestly, I KNEW Hody was spewing bullshit when he said he’d offer their freedom, but really, it’s either take the one small unlucky chance of freedom or die. Didn’t really have much of a choice there.
It is SO FUCKING FUNNY! Looking into Megalo’s mouth and seeing Shirahoshi peaking out of there! XD
Seeing Jinbe at the end was a real treat. I love that guy.
Otohime = toilet noises? Well you flush goldfish down toilets.
Anime recap…
Good point there, Buggy, but then again, why do you care if he’s a doctor or not.
In the manga, I thought it was quite a shock that Trafalgar Law showed up. His reasoning didn’t make sense, but I’m glad there was at least SOMEONE there to help Luffy and Jimbei.
Akainu’s face looks like he’s either really bored or really stupid. Either that or bad animation. Demanding that they get out of the way is useless, he should realize that.
Of course he WOULDN’T understand what Luffy is to them. To him, the father-son thing is biological, and somehow therefore, means that he deserves to die because of that. He doesn’t understand the father-son thing in terms of Whitebeard and his crew. And he never will. Because I hope he dies soon.
Where did THOSE Marines come from? And how do the tunnels work if the whole island is cracked up?
If there’s one thing Blackbeard is really good ate, it’s getting his ass kicked a lot.
Coby again… I really don’t have anything to comment on for him. Not yet, anyway.
So apparently Sengoku has “shock waves”, that’s a pretty useful power for fighting. I also LOVED how Jesus Burgess tried to hit Sengoku but Garp stopped him. That’s a touch of kickass.
Garp and Sengokus are also from Whitebeard and Roger’s time… It makes sense that Blackbeard would want to get rid of them, too, so that he can fully control “his” era.
I like how the Heart Pirates were about to be sunk, but Blackbeard’s powers set them all off balance… Excep everyone else, including some New World pirates, were killed in the process. Hell, even the sky’s split-HEY! Just like when Shanks fought Whitebeard! This is also another scary thought, that such a dangerous Devil Fruit is in the hands of someone who can’t fully control it yet. BTW, those close-ups of Sengoku and Garp looked REAL cheap.
I wonder if the tsunami warnings in Japan are like those in Shabody… The Japanese are probably more calm about it then these people.
The way the Whitebeard Pirates are trying to carry as many survivors as they can is a nice contrast to how the Marines are abandoning the wounded in favor of killing as many people as they can. I wonder… Was this how war was like in the real world back in the day?
The cruelty of war had brought how Coby’s Mantraki abilities. These scene have got the be the most brutal war scenes throughout this entire arc! Not only that, we, along with Tashigi, witness (a particularly douchey) Doberman showing what more than half of the Marines feel is true “Absolute Justice”. Is killing criminals really all that matters to these people? Don’t they care about their comrades? I guess this means they’re perfectly trained by the World Government then…
Where is Coby running? Well, that’s a stupid question, I know where’s running. But WHY is he running to where I think he’s running to? To a place where he’s sure everyone will hear what he has to say?
I LOVE this look back at Coby’s memories… He always wanted to be a Marine… He thought that Morgan was just one corrupt Marine Captain. But now… He’s seeing the true face of the Marines, and just what they feel “Justice” is.
Poor Curiel! And those guys are drunk with madness, cheering on that bastard Akainu!
Coby tripped over a Marine… A likely dead Marine. This part with the locket wasn’t in the manga, but this really drives the point home in a way that really fits One Piece.
And Buggy’s STILL carrying Luffy and Jimbei?! You’d think he would have dropped them by now! But now, he doesn’t drop them until Kizaru shows up. Say, where the Hell has Kizaru been this past few episodes, anyway?!
And once again, Kizaru takes his sweet time charging his attack. It’s kind of a good thing he did, but kind of lowers his credibility as a threat.
Of all people Coby had to stand in the way of, he had to stand in Akainu’s way… But that’s good for me because he needs telling off, and Coby’s just the person to do it! I hate how Sengoku’s face doesn’t change at all, though… On the other hand, I LOVE Garp’s reaction. The fact that BLACKBEARD of all people drops what he’s doing and listens to Coby is really something else, too!
This part surprised a LOT of people. It didn’t really surprise me as much. I was all “Oh, good, he showed up, cool.” It wasn’t as big a WTF as Law showing up, but people made a huge deal about it. Really, though…
I knew Shanks was going to pop up sooner or later.
I wonder if Coby passed out from the haki Shanks must have used, or because he finally collapsed from all the stress his mind was under…
I also wonder how Benn Beckman planned to harm Kizaru with a gun.
Vidcast…
You know, unlike all those other otakus that think they’ll instantly be accepted for liking an anime that even Japan didn’t give a shit about, I want to go to Japan BECAUSE I know it’s freaking huge there!
Dr. Zoidberg impersonations are REALLY hard! Billy West is a GOD among voice actors!
All the fangirls crying over Ace, buh… Akainu’s funny bragging about how he killed him, though. Steve rocks!
