Quick turnaround on this one guys! Thanks for the speedy reaction and discussion

Thanks for making this guys, I really wanted to know what was going on with that lawsuit and this help tons. ^_^
I gotta really thank you guys for releasing this. I think this is the first time I heard anyone cover this issue. I honestly wish things like this were released more often, especially because I work for company that has been dealing with fansubs and piracy.
meh, apparently you dont know nothing about fansubbing and encoding
Yibis encoding is the best out there from all the fansubbers ..better than Eclipse even..
we(OP fans) should be proud of having the best encoding fansub in the world.
listening you guys bashing it for no reason (while reading ilegal scanlantions) makes me puke.
stopped listening after couple of minutes..
oh and whitebeard’s awesomeness cant be seen in a lame 360p res. =))
still, the most of the downloaders are outside US probably..
I don’t know why I keep responding to you, but I want to address some certain points.
First off, we now read the chapters legally with Greg’s help and buy the issues of Shonen Jump via Kinokuniya. Second, I’m not judging the quality of one or the other’s fansubs, I’m judging the quality of ALL fansubs from past experience. Either they fail to translate words due to some sort of Japanese-superiority complex, or they have huge grammar and spelling mistakes. Yosh!
If you had listened to the whole podcast you would learn that we’re more upset with the fansubbing community in the United States taking down and derailing any hope for the legal One Piece release succeeding here. I believe we had mentioned that subbing group early on in the podcast, and for fansubbers they’re pretty good. However, in the United States it is illegal to download or watch copy written material despite how wonderful you may think it is. I can’t speak for your country, but if you live in the United States you can easily access 480p resolution videos via Hulu…yes -480p-…that’s some good resolution if you ask me, especially since, as we said on the podcast, I don’t think all that much is added with 720p, especially when you’re on a computer.
Hope than answers your concerns and misconceptions.
I can’t beleive that there are still fansubs out there they should have stoped after the funimation simulcast started the only ones I can see any one defending are the CP9 and Thriller Bark arcs but only barely
Zach,
You answer to him because his argument is invalid. Especially with his defense for the fansubbers group. As I posted on the mania and ann forums, this issue only reinforces my belief that this is funis push for trying to obtain season 4. If they can stop people from downloading the episode they might be more inclined to getting the next season, after all the anime cost isnt cheap to license. I feel however that most of this effort will go unnoticed. I really hope that this is the event that causes change in the so called “fans” because if they havent changed I feel like nothing else will.
Zach, tnx for the response =)
about translations.. just look at FUNi’s translation.. its garbage.. its a ‘guys we must sub this fast’ as you said in an episode..
maybe the dvd’s are translated better but the sunday episode is totally bad (well sometimes)
and about resolution.. just make a sin and download one episode from yibis and enjoy the quality of the 720p.. you will be amazed.. especially THIS episodes where there is awesome animation and etc..
the collors are brigher, colorful.. the encoding is superb and etc..
if i’d would live in US ofcrourse i would watch the episodes on Sunday from FUNi ( i myself cant wait till tuesday or wednesday to yibis release) but ofcourse i’ll still download the 720p version and enjoy the awesomeness ( on PC is better to watch 720p in fullscreen)
i’m watching the episodes 4-5 times till the next one comes out.. so yeah..
its just a matter of taste ;P
i think you understand now(not only me) and you guys naming us douches or idiots for our Personal preferences is just lame and didnt expect this from you All..
everyone enjoys the show how they want.. you shouldn’t judge
not cool, not cool at all
It’s also not cool to steal.
Also, if you take an illegal action while there is a free legal option… seems kinda dumb to me. Up to now people are just lucky there have been no actions. Honestly, I say to do it for every episode. If the fans aren’t gonna buy, use option b for revenue.
Nice discussion for the unlawful and fraudulent of nature of torrents. I won’t give myself any right to defend or defy torrents since I do use them myself (not for readily available media like One Piece). If and when the authentic media becomes available, I’m more that willing to pay. Those are my beliefs and standards. But I would argue that if legal actions needed to be made then it is rightful and justified for the license holders to pursue compensation as well as action against those of us who chose to defy.
Noting for those that in the event you retaliate. ‘Sticks and stones’ rarely cause the justice system in the United States to crumble and fall.
Saying its okay to steal because it’s 720p is like saying you had to steal that car because its a BMW. Stealing is stealing, imho. Just because its a “preference” doesn’t make it any less legal, in the US anyway.
@Mr. Bushido (Zoro): You do realize that the United States does not encompass the entire English speaking community right? Fansubs exist for the rest of the world outside of the US that does not have access to a legal alternative see as Funi/Hulu blocks our IPs. If these legal methods were actually available to us, we would take advantage of them.
rofl guys, people use torrents since ages.. a crappy release in low quality and fast-subs wont change fans from not downloading better episodes..
people dont care about illegality. both are free. its just funi is acting childish.. since its impossible to stop people from torrenting.. this ‘war’ is going on for ages..the same goes for games..remember when the dudes from GTA IV created a ‘protection’ for the game that costed 200k, saying its uncrackable and in the end it was cracked the next month?
people will always download torrents..
and also this depends on preferences.. some people just don’t like to watch streaming shows.. others are high-quality lovers etc..
Smokes,
It seems you arent from the US so this doesnt apply to you. This is strictly for people who live in the US and ignore funis attempt at giving them the latest episodes by legal means.. Piracy will always exist, you are right, but that doesnt mean that we should just accept it and not put up a fight. Peoples lives and well being are involved here, and to gamble with their careers just because you feel privileged and think you deserve the show in HD is ridiculous. But like I said, you dont live in the US so if its not available in your country, download away I guess.
Diego you are right.. we Should fight with piracy.. btw yesterday i bought my first manga
found a manga-store near my town and bought Cromatie High School..
also there was One Piece volume 57 translated in Italian.. and yeah.. i will buy from now on some volumes here and there.. but i have 21 years old.. i myself understand a little about all this piracy and money in the world.. and sometimes try to ‘buy’ smth and not steal..
but hey, there are hundreds of children out there who just Doesn’t care about this.. ( i also didn’t care about this when i was younger.. bittorents all the way)
so for them they just dont give a fuck about piracy or people’s career..
i myself am watching both the releases.. funi because i cant wait till wednesday to Yibis release.. and yibis because of teh quality..
ok we should end this
First off, as a bit torrent user, I do have to point out that it is a protocol, not a program.
As well as 1337 being more noobspeak than geekspeak(One example of geekspeak would be rule 34 and the like)
That aside, I’ve used torrents to download high quality anime since mid-highschool. I guess I’ve been conditioned by low availability, so it actually did come as quite a bit of a surprise to me when you mentioned that funimation does stream episodes free. Reason being, my online presence has been severely limited for close to half a year now since I JUST replaced my laptop that died around this time last year.
So I do say thank you for pointing out the free alternative that actually does benefit the creators. I do try and buy dvds with what little money a college student can spare. I for one am waiting for an actual economical box set since it’s $50 msrp for roughly 13 episodes on average o.O
wow i just listened to ep 154 and how you said at the ending there are alot of comments and stuff and i see what you mean!! and just for the record i completly agree with you guys and if i lived in the US i would gladly pay every month to see the episodes so i dont really see why you need to download load it, and in a frickin HD… i mean come on thats just stupid.
Great episode guys well done!!!
